Jose Marti Revolution Square Calle Paseo, Plaza de la Revolucion

The Revolution Square has been the scene of the largest demonstrations of the Cuban people and a permanent site for defending revolutionary principles, sovereignty and independence. In this historic Square, there is the José Martí Memorial, an enormous marble sculpture of the National Hero of the Republic of Cuba and a star-shaped obelisk at the base of which are four exhibition halls and a function hall. At the top of the memorial is the city's highest viewing point. In the other site of the square, two building facade bears a representation of the face of other two national heros: Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos.

Malecón Seawall Drive Malecon, Habana

The metropolitan esplanade that runs along the coast for some 12 kilometres, from the entrance to the Bay of Havana (Castillo de La Punta) to the fort of La Chorrera, beside the mouth of the river Almendares. The first project for the construction of this magnificent seawall dates back to the beginning of the 19th Century. Along it is a series of lookout points, esplanades and parks with geometrical layouts. It is one of the most popular places among the people of Havana.

National Capitol calle Prado, Habana

The monumental Capitolio is a replica of the American capitol in Washington, DC. It is one of the most emblematic buildings of the Havana skyline and it occupies an area of 38 875 m². It was the seat of the legislative body of the Republic since its inauguration on May 20, 1929. The facade is mainly of classic style while the interior of the building is characterized by eclectic opulence. From the stairs on we see the imposing porch columns and behind them we find the main gates, fashioned in bronze with bas-relief depicting important scenes of national history. On both sides of the uppermost part of the stairs there are two bronze statues, symbols of two guiding virtues: people and work. These statues are the work of the Italian sculptor Angelo Zanelli. 

Museum of the Revolution Refugio No. 1 e/ Zulueta y Monserrate, Habana

Situated in the former Presidential Palace (1920-1960), the Museum of the Revolution is a colorful building of a large dome and a mixture of styles. A detailed panorama of the struggle undertaken by the Cuban people in order to obtain its freedom is available in its 38 rooms. Its outdoor areas feature the Granma Memorial, where visitors can see, protected by an enormous glass case, the boat on which Fidel Castro and more than eighty combatants returned to Cuba from exile in Mexico to recommence the fight for the country's independence.

Tres Reyes del Morro Castle Carretera de La Cabana, Habana del Este

Perhaps the most iconic of all Cuban fortresses. Its construction began in 1589 and was completed in 1630, playing a key role in the defence of Havana against raids by corsairs and pirates.  When the English attacked and captured Havana in the year 1762, the castle was damaged and later as soon as Spain took power again it was rebuilt and modernized. A lighthouse was added to the Morro in 1764. Standing 45 metres above sea level, it has become an unmistakeable symbol of Havana.
