The oldest statue in the western hemisphere dedicated to Admiral Christopher Columbus was erected in 1862 in a park in the old City of Cárdenas. Parque Libertad is the main town square which is home to some valuable historic buildings. 

The Caves of Bellamar, the oldest active turistic attraction in Cuba, is one of the most beautiful of any on the island, not in vain, became a strong attraction for tourists just a while after they were discovered.
